Bill was born hundreds of years ago in Preston, Lancashire. He has degrees in Art and Design and Education. Due to a typographical error, he is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Whilst teaching in Liverpool, the funniest city in the whole of Merseyside, he began a parallel career as a cartoonist and was first published in Punch in the late 70s - an association which lasted until the magazine's sad demise some 20 years later.
So, for the last thirty-odd years he's worked (and works) for a variety of newspapers and magazines nationally and internationally, including the Times and Telegraph, IPC and EMAP lifestyle publications, The Automobile, Private Eye (when Mr Hislop's on holiday), the world famous Classic Plant and Machinery magazine - a must for people who collect bulldozers - and many educational publications. Much of his work is editorial - illustrating articles - and he's illustrated books of all kinds. He's fast and accurate. And funny.
Bill has his own extensive range of cartoon books - 40+ to date - published internationally by Helen Exley Gift Books, and dealing with most aspects of the human condition - Marriage, Pets, Kids, Sex, Mobile Phones, Computers, Over 30s, 40s, 50s, 60, - the list goes on....and includes cartoon calendars too. In common with most professional cartoonists, Bill also undertakes private commissions.
Bill's an After Dinner speaker. He draws and talks until rendered unconscious.
