Andy Davey was born in London.

His dark years as a research chemist remain obscure, but after winning a cartoon competition in 1994, called 'Back to Basics' with the heinously difficult brief of poking fun at the then Prime Minister John Major, he emerged into the sunlit world of cartoons. Since then he has had cartoons and caricatures published in various UK and European newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, The Sunday Telegraph, Private Eye, Punch, The Spectator, Prospect, Squib, E! Sharp and The New Statesman. He has also worked on the satirical TV cartoon series 2DTV.

His editorial cartoons can be seen daily in The Sun (Tues-Fri) where he vainly struggles to extract drops of humour from the foul stench of world politics. It's a great job, but someone's got to do it.
